The purpose of “Aquí amanece más tarde” (“dawn arrives later here” in english); has been to create a multimedia platform that each person can navigate in their own way to experience for themselves the richness and complexity of what was the first housing cooperative in mexico city.

Through the illustrated map, you can decide how to explore this territory where the sunlight arrives intermittently due to the blocking of tall buildings surrounding it.

This project not only aims to gather photographs, short films, and documented audio by our team but also socializes them through two channels that diverge from traditional approaches: On one hand, the paste-resistance initiative that symbolically returned its images to the cooperative, representing a political act confronting the corporations from which the faces of those who inhabit the area could be seen. On the other hand, the immersive platform through which people outside that territory can explore this unique space in the world, through their own decisions and a constantly changing narrative experience that highlights the community’s personality as a living entity.

COOPERATIVE'S ARCHIVE

Throughout the years, the members of this cooperative have been accumulating documents, photographs and hemerography of great historical value not only for them but also for Mexico City and the cooperative movements in Latin America.

INTERACTIVE PLATFORM

The future of the cooperative is unknown, but we invite you to explore this map that aims to be a space of memory to learn more about the history, the members, the struggles, the joys and the conflicts of Palo Alto.

plataforma interactiva
